Room Controls controls consist of two pages just like Nicknames. The first is easy to sort out. Chose a room name, plug it in and press the magic button! [room ids have a max length of 2-8 alphanumeric characters]. When you first create
the room and chose a name for it this is what your Room ID is. A room ID is what people put into the "find" box to visit your room. Once you have the name, that is where the fun begins. After it is registered there is all kinds
of styling that you can do to it, or nothing at all! Just like the nick controls, the choice is yours.
Here is a break down of each area of the control panel
A Room Homepage is a webpage where you can give a description of the room and what ever rules you may have in place for that room. The info you put here is only limited by your imagination and a 20000 character limit. Which might sound
like a lot, but when you start working in code you realize how quickly those limits get met. You can however get arounf this by designing the page outside of hyperchat and FTP upliad it.
To build it in hyperchat though,
simply press the button and a new screen will open up with a large text box for you to fill with information to be placed on the homepage. People can access this homepage by clicking the room name in the room.
To create
the Room Homepage, there is a button in the first section. When you click it, you will be taken to a new page with a large text area box. In that box, if you understand HTML you can post the code for a fancy homepage explaing what
the room is for. If not, you can just list the rules or type in a simple paragraph. If you are running a village (or a realm in soi) you can also use this to create a private entrance. I will have tips and and advice on how to
create these in another section.
The room name can be a maximum of 40 characters. This shows up in 3 places. Consider it the Fancy Room Name. When you first create the room, that word is what is put into the "find box" next to the chat box. Such as "cork101" but that
doesn't always tell you what the cork is for. So here you could put, "101 Tips for writing better". It will show up on your browser tab and in a room at the top above the chat box and at the bottom as a link, letting a person link
to a room's homepage. On a cork, it shows at the top left and very bottom.
On corks you will see the following: [Help|Old|Travel|Auto].
In rooms you will see: [Mail|Controls||SeeAll|Hot|Help|Old|Travel|Local_Controls].
On the hot sheet, you will see a button that says travel and a dropdown of
choices. What they all have in common is the word 'Travel'. Here is where the Directory Category comes into play. If you are on a cork, or in a room and click the word travel, you will be taken to a new page that lists all the
rooms tagged with that category.
For example, the state owned rooms are all in category zz. So when you click travel from one of those rooms you will see only state owned rooms and corks. I have set up 00-99 and aa-pp at
the moment. 00-99 are designated as 'Regions'. Water Air Land. aa-pp is designated for cities. If you want a city added that currently is not, send me a PM. As long as I have something free, I can add to that until I hit yy then
I am out of space. While I am currently unable to do anything about closed rooms on the lists, it would work as a sitemap if rooms were properly added in this section. So please consider this when setting up your rooms.

zz - Jag Admin - State Rooms
As the software changes and grows somethings become disabled and new things are added. There may have been choices for this at one time. Now it is only the qref. This room owned by Jag Admin. It has a lot of information about the Realm
of Gor with more being added regularly. If you want to have those items available to visitors of your room you can set this or leave it as none.
Room Owner only shows up in 2 places. One is the hot sheet under the name of the room and before the room description. The other is on the Travel pages. You have two choices with this section. If you do not want anyone to know who
owns a room on your account you can select none. Otherwise you can have one of your six handled attached to it. This is helpful if someone has questions so they know who to mail. Or, so that no one can mail with questions you do
not want to answer.
Inside the room the basic styling consists of a few links. A chat box and Icon, text under the chatbox and this. The area to the left of the box. What ever you put in this space will display under the find box. It will take basic html
but will remove single and double quote marks.
This area displays text or images under the chatbox which users can hide by ticking the small tick box under the chat box. It will take basic html but will remove single and double quote marks.
This will display a room counter at the bottom of the page. It has limited choices for styling and the number goes up each time a person hits the talk /listen button. You can use color names or hex codes for the frame color. And it
comes with 13 digit styles.
When hyperchat was created there was option choices for servers. For Jag those options have been removed and now only one is available. At some point this will be removed from control panel but as yet has not been. It is one of the
several things that are now discontinued by seph.
Another option that is now discontinued by Seph
There are 8 seperate options for room formats.
See Below:
Cork, MSG, Forum Boards are a rom format are a board for posting notices. They do not function the same as a room. Each Top Post gets its own line and replies are only visible when you click it. See the Jag Cork for an example
of this.
Voter rooms can be designed much the way a regular room is.
Owners can not see who voted only the final tally.
Voter Options are how you set up the choices.
Like this -
I vote Yes; I vote No; I am
undecided
After the voting has ended, and you want to see the result..
simply remove all information from this line and the totals will automatically appear.
Selecting Option 7 Chess, will set up a board that you can play chess on with other registered members. It does not seem to work with unregistered members. Each Member puts their name in then the game can begin!
Selecting Option 8 Roompage, will set up a room that does not have a chatbox. This type of page allows you to create a personal entrance, a site map (like the Jag Site Map) or other options that you might require. One thing to keep
in mind here is that the hyperchat software creates the begining and ending of the page. While it will utilize any css or scripts you add, you only truly have access to the Body section of the page that is displayed in the browser.
Toreduce the risk of errors, avoid using any HTML codes that do not belong in the Body section of your page.
Selecting Option 9, will set up a room with the following settings.
The chatbox will be located at the top of a page.
New posts will display under that and older ones will be pushed to the bottom and then 'off' the page.
Then
you will have to click on the 'Previous 20 thoughts starting with' whatever date, in order to read the older echos.

There is no spirit list as well.
A spirit list is the names
of everyone who has posted in the room over the last 10 minutes
Selecting Option 10, will set up a room with the following settings.
The chatbox will be located at the bottom of a page.
New posts will display over that and older ones will be pushed to the top and then 'off' the page.
Once
that happens they are 'lost'.
There is no 'Previous Thoughts' option anywhere in the room.
Only 20 posts will show at a time with this option.
However you do have access to the unseen posts in your archives, but only
until that archive reaches its size limit.

There is no spirit list as well on this setting either.
Selecting Option 11, will set up a room with the following settings.
Like option 9, the chatbox will be located at the top of a page.

'off' the page.
Then you will have to click on the 'Previous 20 thoughts starting with' whatever date, in order to read the older echos.

This option however has a spirit list.
The
spirit list has two features, one allowing you to see who has posted and the other is placing the number of people 'in' the room under the find box to the left of the chatbox.
Selecting Option 12, will set up a room with the following settings.
Like Option 10, the chatbox will be located at the bottom of a page.
New posts will display over that and older ones will be pushed to the top and then
'off' the page.
Once that happens they are lost. There is no 'Previous Thoughts' option anywhere in the room.
Only 20 posts will show at a time with this option (See archives for more till limit is reached there as well)

This is the final option for Room Format.
It allows you to block the use of avatars for everyone who posts in a room or on a cork.
Room Access settings are simply that.
The rules that define who has access to your room based on groups.
Citizens (Public) and non citizens (Unregistered Handles)
There are 8 seperate options for Room Access.
There are
two 'groups' for those options Top Lock/Read Only and Not
See Below:
Setting a room to this option means that anyone and everyone can access the room.
They can post in the room.
They can lurk in the room.
Read Only - This is designed to place a password in the room and keep people from posting.
Free - This follows the same settings as above.
When you select 'public' for your acess setting it means that only paying citizens can access your room.
However, it also means that a paying member can enter, change their ID to an anon name and still post.
To prevent this,
make sure to tick the BUH box under the drop down.
It is the only way to block unregistered handles, whether the poster has an account or not.
As stated above, Read only puts a password on the room to prevent unwanted posting.
Public prevents non paying members from entering the room at all
But to block paying members from accessing the room, in an unregistered handle,
you will have to tick the BUH.
However they still can not post without the password, even if in a registered handle.
Top Lock is designed for Corks only.
But acts the same as Read Only.
(I have tested this and there really is no difference)
Free - See Above.
Public Options - See Above
Top Lock Feature - See Above
A setting of 4 Private means that a password is set on the entire room or cork.
No one can access it without the correct password.
There is a limit of 10 unique passwords per room.
Read Only - See Above
Private Settings - See Above
You can chose to have the software related text be in one of three langues English, German and French.
IE Find, Hot, Controls, Help etc.
If you are not using the fancy options of CSS for your room to display the background image. You can use this option to set up a simple background image. There is a sub setting to set the image to scroll as the page increases in size
with posts or have it fixed and the posts will scroll while it does not.
Icon is a rarely used option any more. Especially with the increase of design options.
If you wish to set an icon however, the first thing you need to do is upload the image to the directory for that room. Then you can chose it
from the drop down list of available images. The icon will be displayed in the upper left hand corner of a room. To hide an icon, as a room visitor, all you have to do is click it. If you are a paying member, the same goes for
the icons in the mail room. For Jag that is the sheild logo.
Creating your own counter image file, while possible is time consuming and frustrating. With the addition of the available room counter which was created as a site improvement after the initial software was developed this is an option
that is not really nessisary.
If you do not wish to use the fancy options such as css and tables which would be placed in the 'Text for Top Level of Room'. You do still have some basic options. These options can be applied by filling in the following text boxes.
You can either use Hex Codes or you can use word names, such as red, black, white.
BGCOLOR Colour: This sets the background color.
TEXT Colour: The color the text is written in, this includes the names of
unregistered members.
LINK Colour: All links to other webpages or locations are given this color
ALINK Colour: An active link (Link being clicked) is given this color
VLINK Colour: A link that someone has already
visited is given this color
This text area is used to put in your CSS, Tables, Images, Links, Drop downs or anything else you want to add design the look and feel of your room. It is essentially the 'Body' of the page displayed in the browser. Any text or images
put in this section will be displayed over the chat box. Tables used in rooms, and put in this section should not have any closing tags. If they do, then the tables will not wrap around the posts and only be displayed over the
chatbox.
If you want the css to be applied to the room when it is set to "Auto" then you may want to put parts of your CSS in this section. If you only place it in the Top Section, then it will only be applied to a room when it is not on auto.
Any text or images put in this section will be displayed below the posts.
When you have the room access set to "Private" then you will have a textbox displayed where you can enter a password. This allowes someone to enter the room. There is a limit of 10 available passwords for a room or cork.
You can give a room away to other people.
The first step in a room transfer should be to lock the room.
This prevents new data from being entered during the transfer process and reduces the risk of errors.
If
you only want to send the room, then you can do that
However, if you want to make sure all of the posts go with it,
Iit is important to go to archives and sent that first.
Then send the room to the other person.
Once
they accept the room, everything should be good to go.
The new owner can then unlock the room to public use or leave it private.
Once you are sure you have everything just the way you want it, then simply push this button and you will commit the changes to the software to be saved.
